Title: Dream of Me (The Djinn Order #2)
Author: A. Star
Publication date: January 19th 2016
Genres: Adult, Fantasy, Romance, Steampunk

Synopsis: Glory St. Pierre never thought so many lies could hold so much truth, especially when her entire life has been one of those lies.

Now that she knows who she really is, she must find a way to come to terms with it before the Djinn sorcerer Rasputin and his steel army descend down upon the human and Djinn realms, wielding magic so dark even her own Djinn lover, Irving, is wary of it. Their only hope to save the realms are a couple of hunters and the Lords of the Djinn Order, four powerful Djinn who have remained elusive for centuries.

Armed with her only granted wish, a fabulous airship, and the Djinn she loves by her side, Glory will embark on a quest to find the four lords and enlist their help. But there is a reason the lords have been in hiding, and once this tiny band of adventurers awakens them from their slumber, they will set off a chain of events that has been in the making since the beginning of time.

Rating:

Book cover: Any book with a steampunk theme is bound to bring a smile to my face! The whirring cogs and gears, accompanied by the mysterious female profile, definitely point towards intrigue and adventure ahead.

I also like how the cover of Book #1 has elements that tie in with Book #2 - this way the completed series will look stunning when seated on your bookshelf.

Those earrings needed to be mine yesterday are stunning.

ALL THE COGS! I don't know what that contraption does, but I bet it's something awesome XD

The first book keeps up the clockwork-and-shadowy-profile trend, this time in an aqua green hue.

Thoughts: Reading a second book in a series is always difficult. The first book builds up so much expectation in readers that it can be a little daunting diving straight in to continue the adventure.

Dream of Me wasn't better than Wish For Me but it wasn't worse. It was just different. It was more of an exploration than an adventure, if that makes sense - this book was all about exploring in depth the characters, their emotions, their relationships, and their breaking points. What will they sacrifice to achieve their goals? What would they give up for the ones they love?

Also quick side note Irving is fine as hell and is definitely a swoonworthy male character to look out for is also featured more prominently in this book. He even gets his own chapter, which is a nice change! And let's face it: the most attractive thing about Irving is his deep abiding love for Glory. His devotion for her shines through so strongly in this book and it makes you want to make a million Irvings for the female population to swoon over have an Irving of your own!

Do I wish I had a machine that made fictional men real? Yes, yes I do!

Wish For Me was an entertaining read. However I will note that it is not for people who don't like heavy doses of mature themes. I know I wasn't quite expecting it to rise to the level that it did so I did have to skim through some scenes - scenes that I think could have been a little less forced and crude so they didn't detract as much from the brilliance of the story's main concepts.

But if you're a lover of hot and heavy romances and all things steampunk, you'll most certainly enjoy Dream of Me!

About the author

A. Star is a fan of dirty passion. She loves to read it, and she damn sure loves to write it.

She is the author of the Mythos: Gods & Lovers series and the Djinn Order series.

She is a night-owl and a coffee junkie, and the only sneaker she would be caught dead wearing are Converses.

  1. This sounds so unique - I find steampunk can make for such original stories! I like how fun this one sounds, too, and very well build as far as the world and all that it seems! Lovely review! :)
